I learned everything I need to know about parenting in five days.
So after my post all about Daisy, our new puppy, Reggie got really jealous. This is his post. I promise, no more puppy-centered posts after this one.
But, it really wasn't fair. And, I couldn't take the guilt. So this is all about self redemption.
This afternoon, I decided to do a photoshoot with Reggie. Only all I got was this crappy picture, because he's a raging lunatic monster dog slightly hyper sometimes.
Because he's behaviorally challenged, we kept him next door at my mom's house when we brought Cora home. We planned a proper introduction later. Turns out, once when I was taking a rare moment of rest (life with a newborn), Ben brought him over and introduced him to Cora. He said Reggie was quite the gentleman around little Cora and all went perfect. So they did meet.
Cora was my daughter. I am a mother. I also missed things in her life and felt the motherly regret that any mom can relate to. We had only five days. I remember and cherish them all. I guess if I were a wise person, I'd pass on a moral to this story. Tell you to live every day like it's your last. But, instead, I leave you with this. Hug your babies and do the best you can. Give them lots and lots of love. I know you're already doing the best you can, but truly, the worries about dirty boy scout uniforms or unmatched socks don't matter. Just hug them and love them.
And, I'm sneaking this in, shhhh, don't show Reggie. Daisy just happens to be a bit more
Poor Reggie, this wasn't his post at all.
Hug them tight. Please.
Update: I swear this is not posed. About an hour after I posted this, Ben turned to me said "look at these dogs." I tiptoed to get my camera and managed to get two pictures.
Again, if I were clever, I would probably string something beautiful from the cute, cute puppy moment. Both of them curled up. Reggie the wild dog hugging his little sister on his own in a private little cute puppy cuddling moment. Just go hug your babies.
